Read Our StoryThe palazzo at Calle Alfonso I, 14 was built between 1887 and 1891 as the administrative offices of a Zaragoza notarial firm. It passed through several owners over the following century and was used as a print works, a textile warehouse, and briefly as a language school before falling into disuse in 2001. When the Lumenrvivid partnership acquired the building in 2009, the structure was intact but the interiors had been stripped of fittings. The Gobierno de Aragón's heritage inspectors confirmed in their 2009 assessment that the original limestone arches, terracotta floor tiles, timber joists, and plaster cornices were structurally sound and legally required to be preserved under the building's Grade-II listing. Rather than treating this as a constraint, the founding partners engaged Zaragoza architect Pilar Abad to make the preserved elements the central design statement of the new hotel. Restoration work ran from 2009 to 2011, and the hotel opened on 15 March 2011 with twelve rooms. Three additional Deluxe rooms and the Aljafería Suite were added in a 2017 extension to the palazzo's rear wing, bringing the current total to 22 rooms and suites.
Lumenrvivid operates as a small hotel of 22 rooms and suites with a permanent team of fourteen staff and a pool of eight part-time specialists — guides, a sommelier, and a ceramics instructor — engaged for the Aragonese Cultural Programme. The hotel does not belong to a chain or a group, and all reservations, events, and concierge services are managed directly without intermediary platforms. Guests who book via online travel agents receive the same room and breakfast as guests who book direct, but direct reservations access early check-in from 12:00 (subject to availability), a complimentary bottle of Cariñena wine on arrival, and priority allocation of the hotel's most architecturally significant rooms. Lumenrvivid is most suited to travellers who have already visited Spain's primary coastal and capital destinations and are exploring the country's interior — Mudéjar architecture, Roman remains, Pyrenean landscapes, and Aragonese culinary traditions. The hotel is not the right choice for guests seeking a resort experience with a pool, gym, or spa: we do not have these facilities, and we do not intend to add them. What we offer instead is a building with a documented history, a concierge team with genuine local knowledge, and interiors in a coral-and-ochre palette that feels specific to this city rather than to a design catalogue.

Pilar has overseen every physical change to the building since 2009, including the 2017 rear-wing extension. She attends the hotel four times a year to inspect surfaces and advise on maintenance, ensuring that no repair introduces materials inconsistent with the original fabric.
The three-person reservations team handles all enquiries in English and Spanish, typically responding to emails within three hours during business hours. The front desk operates 24 hours and is staffed by a team member, not an automated kiosk.
Our two full-time concierges have lived in Zaragoza for nineteen and sixteen years respectively. Between them they speak English, Spanish, French, and German and hold active membership in the Union Internationale des Concierges d'Hôtels.
